Q

Should I buy petrol or electric?

More Information
A

How you use the buggy, where you will use it and how it will be stored? If you are using the buggy in the countryside and you may be along way from base for a period of time then buy petrol as you can carry a can of reserve fuel to get you home. If you are using it for hire around a golf course or private estate then either is fine, if you are using it for golf and you have storage facilities with a power supply then again you can use either. Petrol is noisy and requires more maintenance, electric requires a minimum 8 hour re-charge and will do 36 holes with batteries upto 3 years old.

Q

How much should I spend on a second hand golf buggy or golf cart?

A

The big question! This will be determined by your budget and the condition of the buggy. £1,500.00 is an average price for an OK buggy in either petrol or electric. Make sure you get a warranty in writing!

Q

How much does it cost to run an electric buggy?

A

Our electric buggies can be converted to become your indoor and outdoor work horse, they can save you money by speeding processes up and by reducing your fuel and service costs when compared to a diesel or petrol vehicle.

Q

Should I leave my buggy on charge if I am going on holiday for a week or two?

A

Always leave the buggy on charge when it is not in use. The Lister charger will charge and then switch off, you must leave the buggy in tow/maintenance mode this will prevent the charger from drawing power off the batteries, the batteries will then naturally discharge which will take 6-8 weeks. The Delta-Q and new PowerDrive chargers have “intelligent” charge systems which draw power from the batteries and then when they are 10-15% down the chargers start to re-charge again.

Q

My electric buggy is losing its charge quickly and not completing 18 holes or an equivalent distance, do I need new batteries?

A

Test the batteries individually with a multi-meter when the batteries are flat. A set of batteries is only as good as the worst battery so there may be one or two batteries pulling the set down. ONLY replace the batteries with similar aged batteries, do not replace with new. If all the batteries are low replace the whole set with new. Replacing batteries one at a time with new is false economy. Either use good used batteries to replace individual ones or replace the whole set.

Q

Club Car, Cushman, E-Z-Go or Yamaha, which is best for me or my business?

A

All our buggies are supplied fully serviced or refurbished by our golf buggy technicians, therefore it is mostly down to personal choice. Reliability wise they are all much the same, electric buggies are dependant on the batteries and buying a used golf cart can be a guessing game of when the new batteries will die. Club car buggies are made with an Aluminium frame which is good for coastal environments or if the buggy is to be stored outside.

Q

How do we adapt golf buggies for specific uses?

A

We have a fabrication department that can design and deliver any requirement you may have for a trailer or cargo box to fit on the rear of a golf buggy or golf cart. For examples and a price guide please call our office or just have a quick look at the utility buggy pages.

Q

Can I visit the workshop?

A

We welcome customers to our workshop, but it is strictly by appointment only, so please ring to make sure there is someone here for you! However we do offer a try before you buy service where you can pay for the buggy on delivery, this gives you the opportunity to have a look at the buggy, drive it around your location to make sure it suits your environment, we will let you do this for 30 mins. So don’t please think you can go for a round of golf!

Q

How long does it take to charge an electric golf buggy?

A

The buggy should be charged regularly for at least 8 hours. In most cases this means an overnight charge. Modern chargers will switch themselves off when the batteries are fully charged so there is no danger of over charging.

Q

My petrol buggy takes ages to warm up, then it runs okay?

A

The buggy may need a thorough service, if it runs ok it usually means that there are no significant problems.

Q

Can I use my buggy on the road?

A

In short no. Your buggy will need to be inspected and passed for road use by VOSA. This can often mean that it is not cost effective to make the required changes. Road legal golf buggies are available as new vehicles. It is possible to find pre owned road legal buggies but they are rare and often have limited road use.

Q

Can I get lights fitted to my buggy?

A

Yes, there are different light kits for each manufacturer, light kits can be lights only, lights and brake lights, lights, brake lights and indicators.

Q

Where can I get parts for my buggy?

A

We supply parts for all buggies, we can get all parts for all buggies, sometimes the parts are more difficult to source as the manufacturers no longer make them. If you have the serial number, year and make for your buggy with the part number this will help. If not be as descriptive as possible, an image will help us track dow the part number for you.

Q

I would like to sell my golf buggy, who would buy it?
