Choosing a Medical or Accessible Buggy
A medical buggy has one job: getting people to help, or help to people, quickly and safely across ground an ambulance or car can't reach. These are the points event organisers, sports grounds and care settings ask us about most.
Stretcher carrier or wheelchair access?
A stretcher-carrier buggy, such as the Ambug, has a rear bed that takes a standard stretcher with space for a first-aider alongside – ideal for event medical cover, golf courses, racecourses and large sports grounds. A wheelchair-accessible buggy has a ramp or lift so a wheelchair user can travel in their chair, which suits care homes, hospitals, estates and attractions moving visitors with limited mobility.
Electric or petrol for medical use?
Electric buggies are quiet and smooth, which matters with a patient on board, and need no fuel on site. Petrol suits long days at large outdoor events where charging isn't easy. A lithium battery gives electric buggies the range for a full event day.
Equipment and fit-out
We can fit or adapt stretcher mounts, restraints, oxygen and kit storage, roofs and weather screens, beacons and lights, and your own livery, so the vehicle suits your team and how you work. Older vehicles can be refurbished and modified rather than replaced.
Keeping it ready
A medical vehicle has to work first time. Regular servicing of brakes, steering and batteries keeps it dependable, and we can service it at your site.
